Coronavirus Update 16th March 2020

16th Mar 2020

Dear Parent/Carer,

Until we hear otherwise from the Department of Education the school will remain open. However, in view of the seriousness of the situation, the following plans have been put into action:

  • Tuesday 17th March: No breakfast club today and 12 noon closure as planned due to dinners being unavailable.
  • Wednesday 18th March: This will now be a School Development Day and no pupils are required to attend. This will allow staff to prepare and plan work for the expected extended closure.
  • Thursday 19th March onwards Breakfast Club will resume and school will be open until we are advised by Department of Education to close.
  • All after school clubs are cancelled from today.
  • Pupils will wash hands on arrival at school, before break, before lunch and after visiting any other part of the school outside their own classroom.
  • Ms Carmichael, our building supervisor, has suspended all her normal duties and will carry out an ongoing cleaning routine so that the high contact areas eg door handles, desk tops, toilet areas, are cleaned consistently throughout the school day.
  • All pupils eating packed lunches will do so with their own year group and pupils eating dinners will be seated in year groups in the dining hall.
  • No visitors will be admitted into school except those necessary to the children’s education.
  • Whole school assemblies have been cancelled.
  • All “out of school” trips eg Shared Education visits have been cancelled.
  • If you decide to keep your child at home due to concerns about Coronavirus, please let the school office or your child’s teacher know. We understand your concerns and hope that we will be allowed to mark attendance registers with a special code so that your child’s attendance percentage is unaffected.

Please continue to check our social media, school website, class dojo and Seesaw app for updates. Our first concern will continue to be the wellbeing and safety of every member of our school family and the surrounding community.

Kind regards,

J Griffith
