Welcome to Mrs Louden’s Primary 4 class page.

I am so excited to welcome you into your new classroom as you settle into Primary 4. This half term our topic is ‘Superheroes’, in which we will explore our favourite superheroes and think about real-life and everyday superheroes past and present. We will also think about how we are superheroes in our own way and all the things we are good at/ proud of, building confidence and self-esteem. I am looking forward to getting to know you all and can’t wait to have lots of fun learning together.

In ICT we will be practicing logging in using our surnames and passwords. We will also be working through a variety of skills including online communication and creating a shared class PowerPoint.

During Literacy, we will be diving into our class novel 'Judy Moody', and seeing what trouble she and her little 'bother' Stink get into. Our grammar focus for this term will be on using capital letters and punctuation correctly and beginning to look at nouns and adjectives. We will also be doing some creative writing activities based on our ‘Superheroes’ topic, as well as comprehension and reading tasks.

In Numeracy, we will begin the year by looking at number and place value up to 100, before moving to numbers within 1000. We will be looking at counting in 1s, 2s, 5s and 10s and starting to look at learning our times tables, as well as addition and subtraction. Activities will also include problem-solving, using mental strategies and applying our Numeracy skills to real-life scenarios.

Through weekly indoor and outdoor Activity Based Learning (ABL) sessions, the children will have hands-on opportunities to reinforce these concepts in engaging and interactive ways, ensuring a well-rounded learning experience.

It is a busy half term full of learning, fun and getting settled into our new routines. I can't wait to get started!
