P4 - Mrs Gordon
Welcome to Mrs Gordon’s Primary 4 class page.
This term our topic is ‘Life in the recent past’. In this topic, students will explore the key events and experiences of the war, including the evacuation of children to the countryside, the Blitz and its impact on British cities, and the inspiring story of Anne Frank. They will also learn about rationing and how families coped with limited resources, as well as the use of Anderson shelters for safety during air raids. The role of women during the war will also be highlighted, showing how they contributed to the war effort both at home and in the workforce.
In ICT we are using Typing club to help improve our typing skills. This online platform helps us to practice proper finger placement, increase typing speed, and enhance accuracy through fun, interactive lessons and games. By mastering these skills, we are becoming more efficient and confident when using computers for various tasks.
We are really excited about World Book Day next week and seeing what characters we choose to dress up as. We are also looking forward to our ‘How to draw cartoons’ workshop with local illustrator Jennifer Davison. Stay tuned to see pictures from our workshop.
We will also be focusing on our daily Literacy and Numeracy tasks to build our skills and confidence. Literacy activities will focus on reading comprehension, creative writing, and grammar, with a special emphasis on understanding and analyzing texts like Matilda. Numeracy tasks will include problem-solving, mental math, and applying math skills to real-life scenarios.
Through weekly Activty Based Learning (ABL) sessions the children will have hands-on opportunities to reinforce these concepts in engaging and interactive ways, ensuring a well-rounded learning experience.
It is a term filled with learning, exploration, and fun!
Mrs Gordon.
