Science Week

31st Jan 2019

We have had a great week being Super Scientists! In class we were learning about the topic Whatever the Weather. We researched penguin facts and found out that penguins huddle together to keep warm. We decided to test this out for ourselves. We made a human huddle and discovered that the people in the middle of the huddle were lovely and warm. We also carried out an investigation to find out if mittens are warm. We discovered that it is the heat of our hand that made a difference to the temperature. The mitten simply acted as an insulator. Our 3rd experiment was to help us to see how germs spread when we sneeze. We used a spray bottle with water in it for the sneezes and were shocked at how many people were affected by it. There was such a difference when we carried out the experiment again with a hand held in front of the bottle and then a 3rd time with a tissue over it. Everyone had a great time!
