Summer Term

10th May 2019

It’s hard to believe we have reached the third and final term this year.

One of our major events this term is our school production of Beauty and the Beast. The pupils have been working hard and every member of staff has been involved in the preparations. A big thank you also to all the parents and friends who have helped with costumes.

Letters to our new P1 pupils have gone out and we are excited about meeting you all at our Welcome Session on Wednesday 5th June.

If you are aware of any new Primary age children coming to the area, please make sure they know they are welcome in Abbots Cross Primary.

We are introducing new after school clubs this term: Boxing and Gymnastics. These will be led by professional, qualified coaches. This is a trial period and we appreciate feedback from both pupils and parents.

Teachers will be receiving training on Assessment this term. This will develop our ability to understand your child’s learning and to intervene accurately and effectively. Standardised testing has taken place already and will continue in September when we screen for dyslexia and ask our pupils about their attitudes to school and learning.

Thank you to all the parents who have made good attendance a priority this year. Please keep up this good work until the end of June.

Our P7 pupils are looking forward to their residential in Woodhall in June. Thank you to the staff who will go with them. This residential is a highlight of the P7 year for both staff and pupils.

Post Primary placement letters will be issued on 1st June. We are happy to discuss these with you. We will be sad to say goodbye to our Primary 7 children at their assembly on 21st June but we want to wish them all the best in the future.
