Abbots Cross Primary School, Newtownabbey

Welcome back to school year 2025.

1st Sep 2025

Welcome back to another new school year.

Our pupils have returned with lots of smiles and ready to start learning. Thank you to all parents and guardians for the smart uniforms, new schoolbags and stationery you have provided for our pupils.

We are delighted to welcome Newtownabbey Methodist Mission Pre-school on site. We know it is beneficial for our pupils to become familiar with school staff, school buildings and routines at this early age. This helps prepare our children for the important transition into P1 next September. We also hope it is helpful and convenient for parents to drop off pre-school and Primary children at the same place.

Breakfast Club started this morning and is still only 50p! It’s a lovely way to start the day – and the best value around.

You will have noticed the fencing and gates which have been installed to secure our site and keep our pupils safe. From Monday 8th September our routines will change as follows:

School will continue to start at 8.40am as in previous years. However, the back pedestrian gate will be locked at 8.50am. All Primary school pupils arriving after this time should come into school through the front pedestrian gate and report to the school office. Surestart and Pre-school children have separate arrangements.

The back pedestrian gate will re-open from 1.55pm to 2.10pm and from 2.55pm onwards while pupils are leaving at the end of the day.

Our “Meet the Teacher” meetings will take place next week. Details will be sent out in your class Seesaw. Please make sure you have signed up for Seesaw so that you don’t miss any important information.

As always, we value helpful feedback from parents and guardians. Please phone the office (02890864171) or send a note in with your child if you have any questions or suggestions.

We are looking forward to another successful year of learning as we aim to help all the pupils at Abbots Cross Primary “To be the best I can.”
